Clerk to the governing body

Contract/ hours: Permanent, part time.
Salary type: Support staff
Salary details: Grade D From £27’780 FTE (pro rata).
Hours of work: Minimum 100 hours per year. Approx. 3 hours per week. (Meetings are term time)
Location of role: Home based, with travel to Waterside Primary School.
We are looking for a dynamic, flexible individual with great organisation skills and proven administrative experience to support our school governing body. You will play a vital role, supporting our governors.
You will work closely with the Chair of the Governing Body and the Head teacher to co-ordinate the running of the Full Governing Body and Committee meetings including: agenda setting, coordinating communication and papers, minute taking, advising on practice and policy with reference to national frameworks and guidance. Checking the Governor pages of the school website, and that the DfE School Details are accurate and up-to-date, liaising with the Chair of Governors or Head teacher with regard to compliance.
Full training and support will be provided by Hampshire Governor Services.
A motivated self-starter, you will be able to work under your own initiative, manage deadlines, and keep accurate records. Essential to this role is experience of minute taking and meeting organisation, the ability to remain impartial, comply with data protection legislation and maintain confidentiality. As part of this role, you are required to undertake the clerks’ development programme as well as the 'accredited clerk qualification'. All training will be paid as overtime.
Although the role is mostly home-based, travel to school and training is required. It is a requirement of the role that you have access to the internet, a home computer, Microsoft Word (or a compatible application) and a printer. You should have good IT skills and experience of minute taking.
This role is paid on an annualised hour’s basis which means you will receive your salary in equal monthly payments. Annual leave and public holiday entitlement are added to your working hours per week. A benefit of working for the school and Hampshire county council is it’s generous pension scheme and holiday entitlement.
The basic requirement of the role will be 6 Full governing body meetings, 6 committee meetings and three pay committee meetings. Usually on a Thursday evening 6 – 8 pm.
